Well, the new year may be officially under way, but that hasn't stopped Linux bloggers from continuing their reflections on all that transpired over the past decade. At TuxRadar, for example, Graham Morrison looked back over the past 10 or so years and identified "15 game-changing Linux moments of the decade." Beginning with the release of version 2.4 of the Linux kernel back in 2001, all the way through to Oracle's purchase of Sun last year, Morrison zeroes in on the news he thinks mattered most for Linux.
Hadn't seen that job posting at Microsoft yet, very interesting. A lot of the leaked documents from Microsoft also show that they are VERY concerned with open source and Linux. And they have reason to be. For once in the past 15 years, they are finally going to need to compete the good old fashioned way. Bill's perfect monopoly is starting to crumble. I just hope that more and more businesses and individuals start to use Linux more. Still even today, Linux is only known mainly by techies, not by your average computer user. We need to educate more Windoze users and get Linux more into the mainstream. Thankfully, the Free Software Foundation is doing just this.
