Well, the snow continues to fall here in the Linux blogosphere, and Linux Girl is beginning to wonder if it will ever end. Bread and milk are still in short supply at the local FOSS-y-Mart; children are getting cabin fever; and the snow drifts are getting taller than many netizens. Down at the Broken Windows Lounge, in fact, the snow now blocks out most of the light that would be shining through, making it seem as if there are no windows there at all. Such, perhaps, was the inspiration behind a recent conversation that's come close to fisticuffs.

'Once a Shill, Always a Shill'

The quote above is spot on. Yes, if MS disappeared tomorrow, or next year, for WHATEVER reason, it would disrupt things - for awhile. But, the rest of the world would pick up the pieces and move on. Virtually every computer in existence today can be up and running within weeks, with a *nix derivative. It would only be the technically illiterates who failed to keep up - and they would purchase the services of the technically literate to get them up and running.
Good grief. Apocalypse? Sounds like the government and the banking world with their "To big to fail" nonsense.
Personally, I wouldn'nt miss Microsoft at all, until I tried to browse to a site which was hosted on a Windows server. But, I'd just wait a couple weeks for them to upgrade to a real operating system, no big deal.
