If Barnes & Noble does not hurry, the Amazon/Borders Alliance will decimate them.

For years I never did understand why online stores were not treated either as its own branch store, or an extension of one's local store? Why can I not pay online and pick up the book on my way home? Why can I not buy gift certificates online for the store nearest my nephew?
