With the idea of consumers actually buying cars from pure-play Internet companies all but
dead, analysts say that real-world car dealers should be accelerating their use of online
technology to get more shoppers into their showrooms.

Once-promising online car operations have now either merged or fallen by the wayside,
providing an opportunity for dealers to appropriate the Internet for car sales. Research
studies and interviews, however, suggest that dealers have a long way to go.

One of the most difficult problems I've found with getting dealerships to market on the net is that the sales reps don't have access to computers. In one dealership, the e-mail went into the manager's office. When we looked, it hadn't been checked in over a week and there was a customer from out of town asking questions who had not been helped.

This will never be a great success as long as we are still FORCED to deal with the slick and mostly dishonest dealers & their salesmen. All should folllow the SATURN example put work on reasonable pricing without all the "gimics"
we have today
