Install Linux, Void Your Netbook's Warranty?

There ought to be a law against the kind of treatment visited upon the Best Buy customer who was told that installing Linux on his netbook voided the warranty. Turns out, there is. "This seems like a clear violation of the Magnuson-Moss Act," said Slashdot blogger drinkypoo. The reader got plenty of advice to sue, and even more advice to avoid doing business with "Worst Buy."

Google Shows Off a Chrome Tablet With 1,000 Faces

With the tech world caught in the grip of iPad-mania, Google wants to pull a little focus to its own tablet plans. It has released some concept art depicting what a tablet based on the Chrome operating system might look like and what it might possibly be capable of doing. It could be more attractive than an iPad in some ways. Of course, it could also be a no-show, as nothing official is out of the bag yet.
