Every industry has a hero who paves the way with innovation. Cisco is looking for developer heroes for the open source software industry and hopes to find three as winners of its Think Inside the Box Developer Contest. The contest, which started in October, encourages developers to produce applications that run on Cisco's new Linux Application eXtension Platform. Cisco's goal is to encourage programmers to conceive apps that will enhance the usefulness of its routers that tie corporate networks together.

Cisco is just a big bastard of a company, openly violaiting the GPL, saving millions on using Linux and spending millions on lawyers trying to violate the GPL.

And how is a company that does not respect Open Source going to treat Open Source people.

Does Cisco Respect the GPL?

How does this programme sit with the suit FSF v Cisco re violation of the GPL? If Cisco is going to use Linux as a base they must respect the GPL in distributing their boxes. It is questionable whether FLOSS heroes will contribute to Cisco with this question in doubt. Why do Cisco not settle the matter?

FSF has history of frivolous lawsuits

they had put a lawsuit against my company, just because somebody at FSF was pissed off. Maybe Cisco or Microsoft or Google or whoever needs to be wary of FSF. I think FSF stands for File Suits Fast. they are not doing anything to promote rather spend time with liars and lawyers. Thats how they make money
