On April 20, a NASA rocket will lift off from Vandenburg Air Force Base carrying one of the most remarkable physics experiments ever attempted. Gravity Probe B will try to answer questions raised by Einstein's General Theory of Relativity, proposed in the early years of the 20th century. Whether Gravity Probe B proves Einstein to be right or wrong, it has already produced spinoff strategies and a number of technologies, and it has pushed the engineering envelope wider than ever before.

Special relativity describes phenomena that occur when objects travel at speeds close to or at that of the speed of light, while ignoring the effects of gravity. General relativity beautifully describes gravity (as you said). Special relativity has very little to do with the forces of the atomic nuclei (weak and strong nuclear force). That’s the realm of quantum mechanics. Interesting to note: special relativity and quantum mechanics work well within Quantum Field Theory. QFT covers Electromagnetism, and the Strong and Weak nuclear forces but breaks down when gravity is included.
“Einstein's ideas are actually among the least tested in scientific history. One of his most profound…conclusions was that space itself can curve.”
This is a very misleading statement. In May of 1919 Arthur Eddington observed the total eclipse of the sun and discovered the the sun’s gravity bends the light from the stars beyond the edge of the eclipsed sun, thus confirming einstein’s theory of general relitivity. how can you have the nerve to question something proven 85 years ago?
Special relitivity has been prooven over and over. Neutrino’s living milions of times longer than there expected decay times. They do this by traveling slightly less than the speed of light, thus traveling with time as special relitivity states. This is called time dialation. Special relitivity has also been tested with high speed jets and atomic clocks. The clock on a jet orbiting the earth was behind a clock positioned on the earth. These clocks are accurate within 1 second every 40 000 years, so there’s no doubt the evidence is conclusive.
There is no doubt in my (or any knoligable physicists) mind that the spheres will begin to rotate perpindicular to the earth due to the geodetic effect. The real question to be answered is does gravitomagnetism exist. Frame dragging (the effect of gravitomagnetism) occurs when a masssive object’s rotation pulls space and time around with it. It has been meaured by researchers led by physicist Ignazio Ciufolini but only with 20% confidence.
You definitely could have done more research before commenting on the subject. Sounded to me like you’re hyping up failure for einstien in hopes of grabing attention (or so was the intent of your informers). While Einstein was foolish for avoiding QM for the last 30 years of his life, he will still be one of the greatest physicists of all time reguarless of his theories possibly needing an update. As he once said “ I see more than others because I stand on the sholders of giants (refering to newton and others).” This applies to us now standing on his.
