Just a few days have passed since the release of the Android software development kit, but already developers are knee-deep in application projects for the new cell phone platform. Perhaps spurred by the added motivation of Google's $10 million developer's challenge, a full 3,000 developers had joined Google's Android Developers Discussion Group within just two days of the SDK's release; by Thursday, more than 3,000 messages had been posted in the forum.

I do believe the $10 million challenge helps. This is an exciting product for Google. I read on androidguys.com about some of there thoughts, they seem to be pretty right on. This can be a big quick push for Google considering they are going to purchase 700 MHz for wireless.
