Microsoft announced Tuesday that while it will move forward with its plans to discontinue sales of its Windows XP operating system, it will continue to provide support for the software for another six years. Microsoft announced in 2007 that it would extend the sales period for Windows XP until June 30, 2008. With that deadline set to expire in less than a week, the company had to do something to assuage the concerns of its customers, who have deluged the company with pleas to keep the OS on store shelves following the less-than-stellar rollout of Windows Vista.

XP vs. Vista

I guess, the technology is moving faster than the masses can swallow... Why something new always gets such a hard acceptance..? OS is a living system - it HAS to evolve occasionally be cause the world changes too, including the efforts of the bad guys, etc. So, stop crying over the past system and start accepting the new one!

I've got Vista with my new laptop, and besides a few older programs that Vista wouldn't wanna run, it's working just fine for me.

Ofcourse, if you consider yourself an administrator of some kind (read: control freak), you wouldn't like Vista for its control over many things. But for an average user, Vista is a P&P system! And that's what I like to do with my computer - P&P...
