Siebel Systems, IBM To Join on CRM Linux Effort

"The availability of Siebel Systems' market-leading CRM applications on DB2 Universal Database for Linux provides a powerful, yet low cost, open platform on which companies can build enterprise-class business solutions," Siebel Systems Chief Technology Officer Ed Abbo said.


Siebel Systems and IBM (NYSE: IBM) today announced they will join to provide database support for Siebel's CRM suite on Linux.

Siebel will work with IBM to extend support for Siebel 7.7 on DB2 Universal Database for Linux and provide support for Web Server and App Server tiers on future versions of Siebel CRM solutions next year.

IBM and Siebel Systems will market, deliver and service Siebel CRM.

This strategic direction follows the recent launch of Siebel 7.7, a comprehensive family of CRM applications that enables enterprises to manage customer Increase Customer Sales with Email Marketing -- Free Trial from VerticalResponse relationships across all contacts.

Siebel Systems' points to its support for Linux as illustrating the company's continued effort to reduce Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) for its users, support open industry standards and address key customer requirements.

Enabling Siebel CRM applications on DB2 Universal Database for Linux reinforces the commitment of both companies to one of the fastest growing open-source environments.
