E-business software giant Oracle Corp. (Nasdaq: ORCL) (Nasdaq: ORCL) rose 1 13/16 to 84 11/16 Thursday after announcing the addition of a new technology section to its online E-Business Suite community. The new section provides information technology professionals with resources for upgrading, customizing and integrating Oracle applications with third-party products.
The Redwood Shores, California-based Oracle is attempting to rebound after a rocky summer. A San Francisco Superior Court jury last week awarded $2.66 million to Sandy Baratta, formerly vice president of global alliances for Oracle. The jury determined Baratta had been wrongfully fired for questioning whether Oracle had misappropriated trade secrets by unlawfully accessing German software competitor SAP's (NYSE: SAP) R/3 software.
Two other former executives have also recently filed suits alleging they were wrongfully terminated, and the company acknowledged earlier this summer that it had private detectives investigate supporters of its competitor, Microsoft Corp. (Nasdaq: MSFT)
