New York MTA Derails iPod Subway Map

Tens of thousands of people have downloaded maps from ipodsubwaymaps.com since Web designer William Bright, 27, created it last month.

A man who made city subway maps available for downloading onto iPods has been told to stop by a local government agency.

Tens of thousands of people have downloaded maps from ipodsubwaymaps.com since Web designer William Bright, 27, created it last month.

But the New York MTA sent Bright a terse cease-and-desist letter recently, demanding that he remove maps of their city's subway system from his site.

The maps are currently not available for download on Bright's Web site, but he writes that he hopes to get a license for the maps in the near future.

In the meantime, subway maps for cities from Philadelphia to Paris, France, and Bilbao, Spain, to Vancouver, Canada, are still available for download.
