RealNetworks, Inc. (Nasdaq: RNWK) climbed 5 3/16 to 51 15/16 Thursday after America Online, Inc. (NYSE: AOL) said it will use the company's audio and video technology throughout its network.
AOL 6.0, due out later this year, will use RealNetworks' streaming media technology, and the companies are working together on a Webcast of the "Big Brother" television show. RealNetworks' RealPlayer will be distributed with the Netscape browser and throughout Netcenter.
"Working closely with AOL is a fantastic opportunity for RealNetworks," said founder and chief executive officer Rob Glaser.
