The initial public offering of direct marketing company FreeShop.com, which offers free samples and trial offers from various products and services such as magazines and software, could get off to a decent start when the stock opens for trading today. FreeShop.com priced its IPO at $12, above the proposed range of $9 to $11. The thin float of 3.2 million shares being offered could help boost the stock today.
FreeShop.com is one of the top 10 shopping sites, according to Media Metrix, and the company says it has more than 1.5 million members who have signed up for its services. FreeShop.com’s customers include more than 100 companies, such as eBay, Disney, Johnson & Johnson and Columbia House.
