Stock Watch: IBM Deal Helps Skyrocket

High-speed Internet access provider (Nasdaq: DSLN) nearly doubled Tuesday, shooting up 3 3/32 to 6 7/32 after announcing it will provide bandwidth for computer giant IBM Corp. (NYSE: IBM).

IBM dropped slightly during the day’s trading, falling 1/16 to 121 3/8.

Under the alliance, will provide digital subscriber line (DSL) Internet access and services for IBM’s Small Business WebConnections customers in certain U.S. markets. The subscription-based WebConnections offers small-business owners Internet connections with Web hosting, e-commerce, e-mail, firewall protection and other e-business support.

“’s strong, fast bandwidth coverage in secondary cities will enable many more small businesses to take full advantage of IBM’s Small Business WebConnections service,” said Mike Braun, general manager of IBM global small business.

Based in New Haven, Connecticut, provides digital Internet access to U.S. customers in 300 cities and 45 states.
