Stock Watch: Japanese Wireless Venture Boosts BroadVision

BroadVisionInc. (Nasdaq: BVSN) rose 4 9/16 to 39 1/16 Friday, after the company said it would make an announcement with H&Q about a wireless venture.

Early Tuesday, however, BroadVision shares dipped slightly after the software maker announced details of the agreement. BroadVision was down 7/16 at 38 5/8.

BroadVision and H&Q Asia Pacific said they will form a new company to deliver mobile business-to-business (B2B) services. The companies said the joint venture is the first to integrate the growing market for wireless services with the global B2B market.

Access Co. Ltd., which supplies browser technology for non-PC devices, and Itochu Corp. will also participate in the venture. The new company will be helped by NTT Communications Inc., which will provide the use of its data center. The venture, which has the working title of B-Mobile Corp., is scheduled to begin operations October 1st. It will be based in Tokyo.
