Stock Watch: Small Biz Alliance, Dutch Venture Boost E-Stamp

E-Stamp Corp. (Nasdaq: ESTM) gained 7/8 to 1 7/8 Wednesday after the company announced an alliance with the National Federation of Independent Business (NFIB), giving the company access to more than 600,000 small businesses.

E-Stamp said it will be the exclusive Internet postage provider for NFIB members. Small businesses and home offices will spend more than $16 billion on postage by 2003, according to research firm International Data Corp.

The E-Stamp service will be publicized through a co-marketing program. As E-Stamp gains new customers through the alliance, it will use a small portion of the revenue to underwrite NFIB state and local legislative programs, according to the company.

Also on Wednesday, E-Stamp said it launched a version of its service in the Netherlands. PTT Post of the Netherlands will offer E-Stamp’s service to about 100 small businesses and 25 private customers this week.
